So PETA is pissed about this photo (credit: Tony Cenicola) that ran alongside something or other about chicken and how forward it is in the Times. Anyway, PETA called it “downright offensive,” ”not amusing,” “just ghastly and sickly.” Which is to say, a fitting description of every PETA campaign I’ve ever seen in my life. Like this recent one, in which they mock a shark attack victim—after he got got what was coming to him while spear-fishing—which is accompanied by this totally not ghastly image:

Sometimes I think it’s just performance art. Or they’re joking.
