Gigli takes a lot of shit for being terrible. Not good-terrible, not the kind of terrible where you can identify its ambitions and comprehend how it failed to reach them. No, Gigli is impressively, relentlessly terrible to the point that it’s uncomfortable to watch: the way Ben Affleck “turns” a(nother!) lesbian, the way that same lesbian leans back on a bed and spreads her legs to initiate oral sex cooing seductively “It’s turkey time… gobble gobble,” the way the movie’s tone oscillates between gritty gangster flick and screwball love story, the way it treats a developmentally disabled central character like a haplessly stupid walking punchline… Gigli has no clue what it’s trying to accomplish and kind of fails at everything you can fathom it might have been aiming for. 

But! While Gigli is notorious for being bad, it doesn’t get enough credit for being absolutely fucking balls crazy.
